I made my way to Route 119, and stepped into the very tall grass. It was here that I found my new team member: Tropicana the Tropius. ...Sadly, an Oddish would have been more useful overall. Oh well.
Anyway, this patch of tall grass is known as the Mimic Circle, where the trainers move when you move. I guess to less experienced gamers, this would be frustrating, but for me, this was a breeze. I wiped out each trainer of course.
I continued through Route 119, until I reached a bridge further north that was blocked by Team Magma grunts. That's not good... I head into the nearby Weather Institute, only to find it taken over by Team Magma. Knowing that they would bombard me with Fire- and Ground-types, I placed Rena in the lead and ripped apart each grunt there, along with the Admin Courtney. I was awarded a Castform for my troubles. ...That's okay, right? It's still Route 119. Ah, it doesn't matter; I'm not going to use it anyway.
I headed across the now free bridge, only to have May run up to me and challenge me to a battle. She was not a challenge at all, and she was concerned about me not raising my Pokemon. She game me the HM for Fly, but said that I needed Fortree's Gym badge to use it. Oh, what luck! Fortree was literally right around the corner.
I explored the town, stocked up on a few items, and found the gym. I tried to enter, but an invisible force was blocking the path. It wouldn't budge. ...I had no choice but to leave town through the East and head out to Route 120.
On this new route, I found another teammate: Violet the Oddish. Oh, NOW you want to give me an Oddish, when you had two previous chances before. What's worse, now I can't try for an Absol here.
I stomped those reports again. They really need to stick with their day job. ...Or rather, they need to find a new one. I don't see how beating those weaklings show that I'm a strong trainer. ...I am a strong trainer, but they aren't exactly the best competition.
I found Steven on the bridge nearby, who told me about those invisible forces in the area. Through him, the one standing right in front of me was revealed to be a Kecleon. Sadly, I couldn't catch it, so I dispatched of it. He then gave me the Devon Scope, which would allow me to see the other invisible Kecleon in the area. Neat, I guess that means that I'll be able to enter the Fortree Gym.
I headed back to Fortree, and called it quits for now.
