With the games now dumped and mostly analyzed, I feel that it's time for me to jot down how I feel about all of the new Pokemon. There are 156 new monsters, more than any of the generations before it.
So as expected, this is going to be a long post. Thank goodness I know how to abbreviate posts on the main page now.
(EDIT 2/11/2011: English names added.)
#000 / #494 - Victini

Ironically, the first new Pokemon is a Legendary. So Legendary that it's Unova Dex number is #000! (Which, as we all know, belonged to the glitch Pokemon Missingno. back in Red/Blue) It's a Fire/Psychic-type with the strongest Fire-type move in the game as its signature. It's found on Liberty Island, so I wonder if it's supposed to represent the Statue of Liberty and/or its flame (the developers have stated that Unova is based on New York City). ...I'm indifferent towards it, but it's a Fire-type, and with a new type combination, so I'm inclined to like it a little.
#001 / #495 - Snivy

The Grass-type starter, better known as "Smugleaf". I'll probably get one eventually when I play the game, but I always pick the Fire starter.
#002 / #496 - Servine

Eh. Not too much different from Snivy. Then again, I guess that's how most evolutions are.
#003 / #497 - Serperior

...And those leaked starter evolutions turned out to be real. This guy looks like a self-important lord, the way it hangs its head up high. I guess that's what earned it the nickname "Smuglord". Also, looking at its stats, it's like a faster Meganium... and Meganium wasn't all that good. Surprising that it has more of a support role than an attacking one.
#004 / #498 - Tepig

Known as "Piglit" or "Pignition". Odd choice for a starter to be a pig, but luckily I've grown to like Grumpig lately, which helped me to grow attached to the Fire pig here. As I said before, I always pick the Fire starter, so I guess I'll be traveling Unova with the little roasted bacon here.
#005 / #499 - Pignite

It looks like it's wearing a wrestling outfit. SURPRISE!! It's our third Fire/Fighting-type starter. How redundant... I wonder why Game Freak decided that we needed another one of them. It's like the three Landmaster Final Smashes in Brawl; except the Landmasters all came at the same time, while it took 7 years for us to get three Fire/Fighting-type starters.
#006 / #500 - Emboar

He looks like Ganon. Which makes it sad that he's Fire/Fighting instead of Fire/Dark. It definitely looks more Fire/Dark than Fire/Fighting. ...But since it's the final evolution of the Fire-starter, it's going to be on my team. It has a ton of HP, and it's attack stat is pretty good, too. However, it's the slowest of the Unova starters, and the slowest Fire-starter yet, so that's going to require some getting used to.
#007 / #501 - Oshawott

I and others call it "Wotter", but because of its appearance, most people have taken to calling it "Derpderp." How mean... It's actually pretty hardcore; it takes off the shell on its chest and uses it as a sword, as evident by the new attack Shell Blade. Sadly, I have already dedicated myself to Fire; otherwise I would have chosen it.
#008 / #502 - Dewott

Wotter becomes more badass. Now he looks a bit more like a samurai. After seeing it in the leaked beta art several months ago, people started to reevaluate their opinions of Wotter.
#009 / #503 - Samurott

However, THIS Pokemon could probably claim the title as The Most Controversial Pokemon Ever. The final evolution of the Wotter line is a drastic change in appearance from its previous forms; so drastic that when its image leaked a few weeks ago, many were convinced that it was fake (along with Serperior, Pignite, and Emboar, who were also leaked). It's supposed to be based on a narwhal with shogun elements. ...I can see it, but it's still a pretty drastic change.
#010 / #504 - Patrat

The 5th Gen's beginning-of-the-game rodent. It looks like it's high, what with its eyes like that. A high chipmunk... That's not anything I'd like to see.
#011 / #505 - Watchog

And now the high chipmunk is taller and angrier. Why so mad, bro? Unfortunately, it's a step backwards as far as Bibarel and Linoone are concerned; it looks like it's not going to be as useful as the former two are.
#012 / #506 - Lillipup

A dog. It's supposed to be based on a Yorkie, and it's found at the beginning of the game like Patrat. Other than that... Eh.
#013 / #507 - Herdier

Lillipup's evolved form. Not much to say here.
#014 / #508 - Stoutland

What a mustache! Won't it trip over it? Obviously, this is Lillipup's final evolution, and I find it funny how even the female ones have that big 'stache. Its Defenses and HP are actually above average, and its attack stat is pretty good. And it's not too slow, either. Maybe the little Yorkie is worth using throughout the game?
#015 / #509 - Purrloin

It's a cat. Our fourth one, though there are many kinds of cats out there, so I guess it's acceptable. Incidentally, Meowth is still the only cat that actually doesn't look feminine in the series thus far.
#016 / #510 - Liepard

The cat evolves into a leopard. Well, that's certainly better than what we got last gen: an elegant cat becoming a fat, ugly cat. Speed is its game, and it has above-average numbers in both attack stats, so attack-wise, it's pretty versatile.
#017 / #511 - Pansage

Grass-type monkey. It looks like it has broccoli growing out of its head. Apparently, you're given one of the three elemental monkeys at some point earlier in the game; the one you get depends on your starter--that is, you get the one whose type is weak against your starter's type. Since I'm picking Tepig, a Fire-type, I guess that means that I'm getting this one.
#018 / #512 - Simisage

Well, Pansage's evolution certainly looks pretty cool and ready for action. Both of its attack stats are the same and pretty high, though it's better at speed. Definitely a Grass-type that could come in handy.
#019 / #513 - Pansear

A fire monkey, just like Chimchar. I'd prefer it over Pansage, but I can't get it at that point in the game due to me starting with Tepig. Besides, I guess my team could use balance, even that early in the game.
#020 / #514 - Simisear

Well, it's no Monferno/Infernape, that's for sure. But at least it's a pure Fire-type. It and its brethren are evolved by use of the Elemental stones. Nice to finally see them back in play.
#021 / #515 - Panpour

These guys are like the starters that never were. Then again, there would be much outrage over all three starters being monkeys (and the Fire-type being another fire monkey). Also, the first gym leader uses the monkey whose type is strong against your starter's type. So I guess I'll be facing off against this guy.
#022 / #516 - Simipour

It has dreads! It looks pretty happy-go-lucky. But it can still put on a beatdown. All three of the evolved monkeys have the exact same stats, so all that sets them apart are their types and moves.
#023 / #517 - Munna

That one female trainer from Red/Blue got her wish: we have a round pink Pokemon with a floral pattern. What foreshadowing... ...But I don't like it much. Too bad that we need to evolve one to access the Dream World...
#024 / #518 - Musharna

It sorta looks like a recolored Drowzee; I guess it, Drowzee, and Munna are based on the same entity. It was mentioned that you need its Dream Smoke to go to the Dream World. Though it's abilities contradict that. Was it changed by the time the games released? It also needs a Moon Stone to evolve. It's defensive and HP stats are pretty good, as is its Special Attack, but it's slow as molasses. But I guess it's perfect for Trick Room (and hey! It learns it, too).
#025 / #519 - Pidove

It's a pigeon. What more can I say? (And I don't mean that in a good or bad way.)
#026 / #520 - Tranquill

A bigger pigeon. No comment.
#027 / #521 - Unfezant

The final pigeon evo that becomes a pheasant, and the males are more colorful as seen above. Sadly, stat-wise, it's no Staraptor or Swellow, but at least it's more usable than Pidgeot and Noctowl. However, Pidgeot gets Brave Bird, while this guy doesn't, which... just isn't cool.
#028 / #522 - Blitzle

An electric zebra, filling the role of the early game Electric-type. Not bad.
#029 / #523 - Zebstrika

A fast and physically powerful Electric zebra. Imagine if these things actually existed... Lions would have to find another meal. Zebstrika also gets the new Fire-type attack called Nitro Charge, which would help it deal with Grass-types as well as boost its already high speed.
#030 / #524 - Roggenrola

It's a rock with one eye and legs. It's this game's Geodude, so it's obviously going to appear in caves, and with the buff the Sturdy ability got, it's not going to go down in one hit (better hope it doesn't know/use Explosion).
#031 / #525 - Boldore

Graveler, Unova-style. Even down to it having to be traded to evolve. Actually, it sorta looks like a rocky Metang. ...And Roggenrola a rocky Beldum. I can't believe I never noticed until now.
#032 / #526 - Gigalith

Then, does that make this rocky Metagross? I guess so. There was a time where people thought that this was either a split evo of Nosepass or an evolved form of Probopass, citing its color-scheme and the "noses" on its legs. How wrong they were. As expected, it has very high Defense and Attack, but is also slower than a snail. But like with Musharna above, it can truly shine with Trick Room.
#033 / #527 - Woobat

Remember how annoying Zubat was in caves? Well, that torch has been passed on to this guy. It's a strange-looking bat, and it's part-Psychic, too. Thanks to that, it can at least beat Zubat in a fight.
#034 / #528 - Swoobat

Well, at least now it looks more like a bat; hell it looks more like one than its cousin Golbat (though Golbat is butt-ugly). It's ears are fused together, so that's weird. Sadly, while it has exceptional Speed, it's not too good on the offensive side; I guess it could always take a support role. It also evolves through Friendship; though I've read reports that it actually evolves during summer ingame. ...I hope it's a Friendship evolution.
#035 / #529 - Drilbur

A mole that actually looks like a mole? Step aside, Diglett... You've been replaced.
#036 / #530 - Excadrill

...And that mole evolves into an even more awesome mole. Unfortunately, it picks up the Steel-type as its second type, so it ironically gets its ass handed to it by Ground-type attacks (Dugtrio's revenge?). It has a high HP stat to help out its defenses, and as expected, it's Attack is skyhigh. This guy may make its way onto my team.
#037 / #531 - Audino

The new Chansey, even in the anime. She possesses quite a few healing moves; with Triple battles taking on more of a standard JRPG flare, she is obviously the cleric. Sadly, she doesn't have the stats that Blissey--or even Chansey--has, so outside of heal support in Triples, she's probably going to go ignored. Maybe next gen will give her an evolution, a la Chansey.
#038 / #532 - Timburr

Unova's parallel of Machop, except it's carrying a 2-by-4. I'm sure it uses it as a weapon, which takes Pokemon weapons to a whole new level. Then again, first gen gave us bones, leaks, and blades, so I guess it's par to the course.
#039 / #533 - Gurdurr

Oh great, now it has an iron girder. Isn't that a bit over-the-top? Is this line supposed to be a mass of muscles, though. While the Machop line was vaguely human, I'm not sure what these guys are supposed to be. And look, it has a clown nose.
#040 / #534 - Conkeldurr

Machamp, except without the four arms but instead concrete blocks. Hell, it even needs to be traded to evolve. Though it looks more like Slaking than anything else. It's yet another slow candidate for a Trick Room team, and it has the Attack, Defense, and HP to wreck shit on such a team.
#041 / #535 - Tympole

It's a tadpole that sorta resembles the Prince from Katamari Damacy. It looks more like a tadpole than Poliwag. Another Pokemon that outdid one of the originals at paralleling the animal it's based on.
#042 / #536 - Palpitoad

It outdoes Poliwhirl; it actually looks like a tadpole developing into a frog. I'm not too keen on those lumps, though, but I guess real frogs have them.
#043 / #537 - Seismitoad

What the hell was Poliwrath supposed to be? The Pokedex called it a tadpole, but it looked anything but. Sadly, that line didn't get a frog until Gold/Silver. Thankfully, this line actually ends with a frog on its first attempt. Sadly, with its stats and its Water/Ground-typing, it's outdone by Swampert and Gastrodon (especially Swampert). Hell, even if it was pure Water, it'd be outdone by many, many other Water-types (and there's a lot of them).
#044 / #538 - Throh

The first of Unova's Hitmon Duo. This guy is slower but more solid. Though to be honest, I don't like it much. :/
#045 / #539 - Sawk

The faster and more powerful of the duo. I don't like this one much, either.
#046 / #540 - Sewaddle

A caterpillar with a leaf collar. It looks like it's found later in the game than its brethren in the other regions, which perhaps means that it'll be more useful? We'll see.
#047 / #541 - Swadloon

Is it a cocoon? No, it looks like a cold bug trying to stay warm by wrapping itself in leaves. I guess that explains why it doesn't learn Harden.
#048 / #542 - Leavanny

What's this? This bug is actually... good? Nice Attack and Speed, access to Leaf Blade, X-Scissor, and Swordsdance... The only drawback is it needing Friendship to evolve, though I've heard reports of it also needing to level up during ingame summer to evolve. Damn, they love trying to keep awesome Pokemon away from us.
#049 / #543 - Venipede

Another bug, this time based on a baby centipede. ...Unfortunately for it, I think the grass bug above is cooler.
#050 / #544 - Whirlipede

This IS a cocoon, but it also doesn't learn Harden. However, it gets Iron Defense when it evolves, which is a great trade-off. Especially since both it and Swadloon reach their "cocoon" stages later than the other cocoons.
#051 / #545 - Scolipede

The centipede emerges. I usually hate centipedes, but for this guy, I may make an exception. With it being Bug/Poison, it can lay the smackdown on Leavanny above, and as expected, it's very fast. Also, unlike Leavanny, it evolves when it reaches a certain level, not with Friendship and/or seasonal, so that's a plus.
#052 / #546 - Cottonee

A Grass-type fluff of cotton. Jumpluff would be proud.
#053 / #547 - Whimsicott

An afro of cotton, this Pokemon needs the Sun Stone to evolve. It and it's pre-evolution are exclusive to Black, which is my choice, so I guess I'm going to have to deal. Its ability lets any non-damaging attack gets priority, but it's already pretty fast. Sad to say, its other stats are pretty lackluster, rendering it as a possible support role.
#054 / #548 - Petilil

Another Grass-type, this one is exclusive to White. To be honest, I prefer this one over cotton-fluff above, but as I said, I guess I have to deal with it.
#055 / #549 - Lilligant

Grass-type Gardevoir? Definitely looks like it. It also requires the Sun Stone to evolve (they really are going out with these Stone evolutions this gen, aren't they?), and its Special Attack and Speed stats are pretty good. It also gets the insane Butterfly Dance move, which increases Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. Damn, Black owners really did get the short end of the stick here. Though unlike Whimsicott, all it really has as far as offense is Grass-type attacks, while Whimsicott has those, Gale (Flying-type Thunder/Blizzard with a chance of Confusion), Shadow Ball, and Psychic. Though at least Doredia can put a dent in stuff with her attacks.
#056 / #550 - Basculin

It looks like Unova's Magikarp. ...Except that it doesn't evolve. However, it has decent stats that could carry it through the game, at least. It has two forms, and I hear that in each version, one of the forms is more common than in the other one. I wonder if it's a prime candidate for getting an evolution come 6th gen?
#057 / #551 - Sandile

A Ground/Dark-type desert crocodile that looks like it's wearing sunglasses? No wonder it has the nickname "Swagodile". With it also came a new ability called, depending on your translation, Arrogance or Overconfidence (though Serebii went with the odd translation Earthquake Spiral, which is even more odd with Gyarados and Salamence getting it as their Dream World abilities; he has since fixed that), which increases the user's attack with each KO they score. What a scary ability... Maybe Swagodile may make it onto my team when I play this game.
#058 / #552 - Krokorok

Wow, look at this guy. Arms folded, head turned away from the action... It looks like one of those people who don't care about much at all. And he definitely does look arrogant, which I guess makes its ability a perfect fit for it.
#059 / #553 - Krookodile

Remember the Squirtle Squad from the anime? It looks like it's wearing the leader's (Ash's Squirtle) shades. Oh, yeah he definitely looks like a Dark-type now. And with access to Earthquake, Crunch, Outrage, and Stone Edge, backed by its great Attack stat, it's here to kick ass and take names. Not to mention that it grows more powerful with each KO it scores. If you can somehow get its Speed higher (like from a Baton Pass from Ninjask), then we may have an unstoppable beast on out hands.
#060 / #554 - Darumaka

Look at this little guy. A little baby daruma doll, and it's a Fire-type. I think we have a candidate for my team right here.
#061 / #555 - Darmanitan

...And Darumaka grows into something hella awesome. A daruma doll mixed with a gorilla? How can you say no to that? In addition, it's Attack stat is insane, and it's HP and Speed are nothing to sneeze at, either. Thankfully, unlike Flareon unfortunately, it gets Flare Blitz. Also, there's another form that it takes when it has the Zen Mode ability (only available through the Dream World and apparently some overworld Darmanitan found in a certain place). When its HP is halved, it changes into a Fire/Psychic-type and its stats change accordingly; it now boasts an incredibly high Special Attack stat and its defenses shoot up as well, though it sacrifices Speed in the process. Which Darmanitan will YOU use?
#062 / #556 - Maractus

It looks like a Heartless from Kingdom Hearts. I guess having another Pokemon based on cacti isn't that bad. Though it's pretty slow, but its Special Attack stat is pretty good. Unfortunately, outside of Grass-type moves, it doesn't have much to work with as far as Special attacks go.
#063 / #557 - Dwebble

A hermit crab. You know what else is classified as a hermit crab? Slowbro. Now, between the two, which one looks more like a hermit crab? Ironically though, it being Bug/Rock makes it vulnerable to Water-type attacks (something that Slowbro didn't have to fear).
#064 / #558 - Crustle

Damn... This hermit crab is carrying a big slab of rock on its back. Talk about hardcore. It gets Rock Wrecker, which used to be Rhyperior's signature move. But since it's a Rock-type Hyper Beam, no one's going to use it. As to be expected, its Defense is pretty high, and it's slow, but it's not as slow as I imagined it to be; it's faster than some Pokemon that should be faster than it. Maybe that rock is a bit hollow on the inside (then again, I guess it has to be, since it's its home).
#065 / #559 - Scraggy

Fighting/Dark... At least it doesn't fear Psychic attacks. In fact, with that combo, its only weakness is Flying. It doesn't look to trustworthy, though.
#066 / #560 - Scrafty

This Pokemon is wearing a hoodie. And it has a mohawk. And it has baggy pants (like its preevo). An American thug? Going by one of its Pokedex descriptions, about a group of them beating any trespassers in their territory within an inch of their lives, most likely. And oh look, it also gets Overconfidence/Arrogance. Unbelievably, its Defenses are pretty high, but it's rather on the slow side. Maybe Ninjask can fix that- Oh wait, it somehow gets Dragon Dance. ...Though the extra speed from Ninjask could help.
#067 / #561 - Sigilyph

What the hell is this thing? It looks Aztecan. But what is it? Whatever it is, it's a beast. High Special Attack and Speed means that it could be used as a Special sweeper. But still... What is it?
#068 / #562 - Yamask

A Pokemon with the word "death" (Japanese name: Deathmas) in it's name? That's almost as shocking as Houndoom's Japanese name (Hellger), so of course don't expect it to stick when these Pokemon get their English names. So it's a black ghost carrying a mask; according to the Pokedex the mask is its face when it was a human, and it sometimes cries while looking at it as it reminisces of its time as a human. ...That's pretty depressing.
#069 / #563 - Cofagrigus

An Egyptian sarcophagus, in Pokemon. My sister hates this Pokemon; she hated it ever since seeing its backsprite in an Oha Suta image several months ago, and she especially hates it now having seen it from the front. I think it looks pretty cool. Though it could have easily been Ghost/Rock, Ghost/Ground, or Ghost/Steel instead of pure host, but I think having another pure Ghost isn't bad (besides there is a Ghost/Ground-type this gen). Its stats are similar to Dusclops', with low HP and Speed but high Defenses, but Cofagrigus attacks from the Special side instead of the Physical side like Dusclops. Ironically, despite it having four arms, it doesn't learn Shadow Punch. I know its Attack stat is pretty low, but you'd think that it's at least be there.
#070 / #564 - Tirtouga

It's an ancient sea turtle, so it's obvious one of the fossil Pokemon in the game. We've had turtles before (though only one of them were actually aquatic), but having a sea turtle is always a good thing.
#071 / #565 - Carracosta

It's Gamera! Or so people say; I'm not really into those giant Japanese monsters. But it reminds me of the disobedient Archelon from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, I guess because they both are, well archelons. Another slow candidate for Trick Room; its Attack and Defense would go to waste otherwise. And it learns Curse too, which will definitely help it.
#072 / #566 - Archen

Another fossil, this time what is supposed to be the ancestor of all bird Pokemon. Though it looks more like a tropical bird than an ancient bird. I guess they were more colorful back then.
#073 / #567 - Archeops

This thing put Aerodactyl out of a job. ...Or it would have, but it has a very cripping ability that cuts its stats when its HP drops to 50% or less. A shame, too; it has a monstrously high Attack stat backed by a high Speed stat; and it also has high Special Attack, too. I guess the point is to dish out as much damage as you can. Too bad Roost isn't a TM anymore; it would have helped it out alot. But between the two fossil Pokemon, I think I'm going to go with this one.
#074 / #568 - Trubbish

I never thought I'd see the day when there would be a Pokemon based on a garbage bag. I guess many haters of the series could make many jokes about the franchise using this Pokemon.
#075 / #569 - Garbodor

A garbage bag filled with so much trash that it's torn apart. It's the Muk of Unova, and like Muk, I don't like it. Stat-wise, there's nothing remarkable about it, and it being pure Poison doesn't do it any favors. It belongs in the dump, but I guess it would love that.
#076 / #570 - Zorua

Hey look! It's one of the first 5th Gen Pokemon revealed. Man... Time sure flies... Sadly, it's an event Pokemon, so you won't be seeing it during normal play.
#077 / #571 - Zoroark

And here, THE first 5th Generation Pokemon revealed, albeit through silhouette form. Like Zorua, it too is an event Pokemon that has the spotlight in the 13th movie. So until Nintendo distributes the shiny Raikou, Entei, and Suicune needed to unlock its event in Black/White, we won't be seeing it over here. Stat-wise, it's like an improved Lucario, though Lucario's typing allows it to walk all over Zoroark's Dark-type. It ability Illusion, which lets it take the form of the second Pokemon in your party, will serve to trip up many players. I can also say with confidence that Zoroark is going to be in the 4th Super Smash Bros.; what happens with Lucario and whether or not Mewtwo comes back is anybody's guess.
#078 / #572 - Minccino

We have a chinchilla. People thought that this guy would end up as our useless rodent, but we were wrong; it actually evolves. Though the first sign that that wasn't going to be was the fact that it gets Technician as an ability, and it seems that Pokemon with Technician don't suck.
#079 / #573 - Cinccino

Another Stone evolution, this time of the Shiny Stone. It's actually very good, with a high Speed stat and above average Attack. With Technician, it can make good use of the now boosted Bullet Seed and Rock Blast, not to mention its own Normal-type moves. It looks like it's wearing fur; trophies of the opponents that it has taken down, maybe?
#080 / #574 - Gothita

A gothic baby. But it's not classified as a Baby Pokemon, since there are none this gen (not even Zorua, like its cousin Riolu was). Meaning it can breed. So, if you want your Machamp to have its way with a baby, there you go.
#081 / #575 - Gothorita

...Okay, I'm going to be honest here. If she was a human instead of a Pokemon (and looked human, of course, but with much of the same features, sans her lips), I would find her cute. I guess that's my weakness for goth girls talking.
#082 / #576 - Gothitelle

Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the last in this evolutionary line. Gothitelle reminds me of a fusion of Jynx and Gardevoir. Gardevoir isn't bad at all, but Jynx ruins it. It's classified as the Celestial Body Pokemon (and its cry matches it, too), but I think it should have been Psychic/Dark. Yeah, there is a lot of darkness in space, including stuff like dark matter and dark energy. It's more defensive than anything, but its Speed is below average. At least it has some nice Special moves outside of Psychic-type ones to use (including Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, and Dark Pulse as an Egg Move). I should also mention that this line is exclusive to Black.
#083 / #577 - Solosis

A single-celled organism in green jelly is what it is. Perhaps it was grown in a lab somewhere. Though I wonder why it's not Psychic/Poison instead of just Psychic (and that extends to the entire line).
#084 / #578 - Duosion

According to the Pokedex, its brain has split into two pieces, and they sometimes conflict with each other. Would this Pokemon qualify as schizophrenic?
#085 / #579 - Reuniclus

We have a homunculus, and not the Fullmetal Alchemist kind. When I first saw it several months ago, I called it "ghostbat", and was going for a Psychic/Ghost typing. Though turns out it's not a Ghost at all, and like I said with Uniran, it should have been Psychic/Poison. It's exclusive to White, and to be honest, I like it better than Gothitelle. It boasts a shitton of HP and Special Attack, but it's as slow as molasses. But I guess it can be used to set up Trick Room.
#086 / #580 - Ducklett

The ugly duckling. As we all know the story behind that, I think we know where this is going...
#087 / #581 - Swanna

Yep, it becomes a beautiful swan. ...Sadly, beauty is all it really has going for it, since its stats are pretty mediocre. Not to mention it being Water/Flying means that it gets its ass handed to it by Electric-type moves. On the plus side, it gets Gale and Brave Bird. ...Why does it get Brave Bird when Unfezant doesn't?
#088 / #582 - Vanillite

A pure Ice-type that looks like a sentient scoop of ice cream. I guess it's fitting.
#089 / #583 - Vanillish

Oh damn, I guess it was ice cream. we now have food Pokemon (not counting Cherubi, a cherry). When it was leaked two weeks ago, opinions on it was mixed; some thought that it showed that Game Freak still had great ideas, while others thought it was sign that Game Freak had gone off the deep end. I'm split somewhere in the middle on it.
#090 / #584 - Vanilluxe

Oh man, now it's a double-scoop sundae with a straw. I don't really like it, though. It's movepool is especially lacking, which is sad; it could have made good use of its base 110 Special Attack. At least it gets Water Pulse as an Egg Move.
#091 / #585 - Deerling

I'm pretty sure this Pokemon was created just to show off the new season feature of Black/White; it changes its appearance with the seasons, from Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter (in that order above). However, it's only an aesthetic change; its stats are not affected at all. At least it has the new type combo Normal/Grass.
#092 / #586 - Sawsbuck

Like its preevo, it also changes with the seasons, so unlike Wormadam, it's not locked in the form that it was in when it evolved. Anyway, it's not bad for a gimmick Pokemon. It doesn't get Seed Bomb, but it does get a new attack called Wood Horn, which functions like Giga Drain (which was buffed up), as well as Megahorn, Wild Bolt, and Double-Edge. Ninjask could definitely give it a boost.
#093 / #587 - Emolga

HERE'S our obligatory Electric rodent. ...Except compared to Plusle, Minun, and especially Pachirisu, it's not as useless. It's... decent. Speaking of Pachirisu many thought that it was Pachi's evolved form; after all, Pachi is a squirrel, and Emolga is a flying squirrel. Of course, they were wrong. Oh, and it can't learn Fly, which makes sense; flying squirrels don't actually fly, they glide.
#094 / #588 - Karrablast

Look at this bug. Looks like something that you can't trust at all. ...Considering its gimmick, there may be some truth in that.
#095 / #589 - Escavalier

Wow, where'd it get that armor from? And those javelins? That's this Pokemon's gimmick; in order to evolve, Karrablast must be traded with a certain other Pokemon. I do wish the two families were right next to each other in the Pokedex, but instead we're going to have to wait to see what it is. Anyway, this thing is slow. I mean, REALLY slow. Though its Defenses are solid, and its Attack is excellent; yet another candidate for Trick Room. There certainly are a lot this gen. It also picks up the Bug/Steel typing, giving it no weakness except against Fire.
#096 / #590 - Foongus

Yes, this mushroom has a Pokeball image on its head. It functions as the Voltorb of this gen; that is, tricking you into thinking that you found an item, but instead have found this fungus. I guess every game needs a Chest Monster.
#097 / #591 - Amoonguss

This fungus really loves Pokeballs. It's no Breloom or even Parasect, however. It's yet another slow Pokemon with only high HP to boast about. At least it gets spore, but I'd rather use Parasect over it; I've made Parasect work on my Rain Dance Doubles team.
#098 / #592 - Frillish

Unova's Tentacool, maybe? It has drastic gender differences; take a wild guess and figure out which is male, and which is female. ...Yeah, that wasn't hard, was it? It also has the unique typing of Water/Ghost. While I've been wanting that typing for several years now I wonder how jellyfish qualify...
#099 / #593 - Jellicent

While Frillish looks decent, its evolution (both of them) just looks goofy. Yeah, deep sea royalty, but they just don't sit well with me. It also doesn't help that it's more defensive-based, with high HP and Special Defense, but average offense. Its Cursed Body ability could come in handy against Pokemon who like to spam moves. It's an interesting creature, I'll give it that. Maybe it has a support role waiting for it in the metagame?
#100 / #594 - Alomomola

Man... We were so sure that this would be a much-needed Luvdisc evolution. After all, it's a Water-type fish that's heart-shaped. Anyone would have made the connection. But how wrong we were... This gen has no evolutions to past Pokemon (as shown with Emolga above), which means that Luvdisc is still useless except to farm for Heart Scales. ...Then again, the first clue should have been the different abilities (Alomomola does not have Luvdisc's Swift Swim), as well as a later video that showed the player encountering Alomomola in the wild. Anyway, if there's any Pokemon that serves as support, it's this one. It has the highest HP stat out of all the Unova Pokemon, I believe, and has one of the highest in the game. Everything else is pretty mediocre to bad. But I guess Alomomola isn't meant for attacking. Plus, in Triple Battles, it's going to be a bitch to fight, with Heal Pulse to heal its teammates and Wide Guard which is like Protect except it guards all of its teammates, not to mention its aforementioned high HP.
#101 / #595 - Joltik

Bug/Electric... Finally, we're getting some much-needed Electric dual types (which is helped even further by Rotom's alternate forms now changing their Ghost types into the type that matches the appliance that they're possessing). Joltik is a welcome addition to the family.
#102 / #596 - Galvantula

The best thing about this electric tarantula is that with Compoundeyes, it can rain down Thunder with almost no worries about it missing. It's pretty fast and has above average Special Attack, too. It also gets Bug Buzz. Thunder and Bug Buzz... That resonates with me very well.
#103 / #597 - Ferroseed

I guess this spiky iron ball can claim the title of Unova's Voltorb, since it's a round Pokemon that can blow up. Grass/Steel offers another new type combination to the series.
#104 / #598 - Ferrothorn

I can see this thing hanging from the ceilings of old, abandoned castles. Unsurprisingly, it's slow, but Gyro Ball is a godsend for it. It's a defensive powerhouse that can still attack if it wants to... but only from the Physical side. The question is... Power Whip or Seed Bomb?
#105 / #599 - Klink

Unova's Magnemite, and it also stole Plusle and Minun's gimmick as well, with it getting either Plus or Minus as its abilities (in addition, Ampharos gets Plus and Manectric gets Minus from the Dream World). For a pure Steel-type, it's alright.
#106 / #600 - Klank

Okay, so when it evolves, it gets a bigger gear behind it. Okay, I guess that's natural.
#107 / #601 - Klinklang

Okay, this is just lazy. There's almost no difference from its previous form; all it gets are a few new gears at the bottom. It's as bad as Poliwrath, design-wise. In other news, it's actually pretty sturdy. As to be expected from a Steel-type, it has great Defense, but believe it or not, it's pretty fast. So it can't really use Gyro Ball... actually, it can't even learn Gyro Ball. In fact, most of its attacks are from the Special side, and it's Special Attack is much lower than its Attack. What a shame...
#108 / #602 - Tynamo

An Electric-type lamprey, but when I first saw it in a low-resolution screenshot posted on Serebii.net, I didn't know what it was. People saw it and thought sperm, and it sorta did look like it. It only learns 4 moves, and no TMs or Egg Moves, so I guess that's call to evolve it as soon as possible. And it has Levitate. Which means that, with it being a pure Electric-type, it has no weakness.
#109 / #603 - Eelektrik

God, this thing is ugly. But at least it has many more moves to learn. It doesn't learn Leech Life, surprisingly. Neither does its preevo or its evolution.
#110 / #604 - Eelektross

It looks better than its previous form, but that's not saying much. It evolves with the Thunderstone, and still has Levitate. It's slow, though, which is odd for Electric Pokemon (in fact, I think it's the slowest fully-evolved Electric-type). It's more Physically-inclined as far as stats go, but both of its offensive stats are high, so you can make do with either side. Funny how these guys aren't part Water, though. Aren't real lampreys aquatic? But I guess we already have a Water/Electric-type in Lanturn (and Wash Rotom now).
#111 / #605 - Elgyem

Aliens have invaded Pokemon! There was a theory in the anime a long time ago that Pokemon came from space. Well, here's our extraterrestrial Pokemon. Though to be fair, it's not the first one; Deoxys is a virus from outer space that was mutated by a terrestrial laser into the form we know, and Lunatone and Solrock are thought to have come from space. But Elgyem actually looks like your stereotypical alien.
#112 / #606 - Beheeyem

The Psychic alien grows stronger. The Pokedex says that it rewrites the memories of its victims. That's pretty scary. Also, take note of its cry. Sounds pretty otherworldly, doesn't it? Anyway, it's yet another slow Pokemon with a high offensive stat, this time obviously in Special Attack. I wonder why there's so many slow Pokemon this gen... Are they trying to make us use Trick Room?
#113 / #607 - Litwick

Ghost/Fire was one of my most-wanted type combinations, though I was thinking more of a Pokemon based on Will-of-the-Wisp. Well, this candle at least has it in its design as its flame, so it's all good.
#114 / #608 - Lampent

A candle into a lamp. Makes sense. The Pokedex mentions how this entire family eats the souls of dead and near-dead beings. They're ghosts, alright.
#115 / #609 - Chandelure

And the lamp becomes a chandelier. This Pokemon is quickly becoming a fan favorite, and it also has this awesome fanart to back it up. It also evolves with a Dusk Stone, which makes sense. It boasts a whopping 145 for its Special Attack stat. That's edging on Uber's territory. Its other stats are also pretty solid. I know this guy is going on my team. Creepy cry, notwithstanding.
#116 / #610 - Axew

Iris' Pokemon in the anime. At first, I was indifferent towards it, but then when it was revealed to be a Dragon-type, I took great interest in it; Dragon Pokemon are my favorite type, you know. Plus, it has Mold Breaker, which is a very good ability. So, from the get-go, Axew had a lot of promise.
#117 / #611 - Fraxure

The middle ground. Not much to say here, except damn... Look at it's 117 Attack stat.
#118 / #612 - Haxorus

Awesome. Just awesome. Not only is it a much-needed pure Dragon-type final evolution, but it also has axe-shaped tusks, insanely high Attack, and access to both Dragon Dance and Swordsdance. This guy is a beast! It's definitely going on my team. Not having to worry about the other Dragons' quadruple weakness to Ice is a godsend.
#119 / #613 - Cubchoo

OH MY- EWWWWWWWW!!! Absolutely disgusting! Why did they green-light the polar bear with snot dripping from its nose!? It was bad enough with that kid in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and now I have to put up with it in Pokemon?! What's worse, the Pokedex mentions how it uses its mucus for attacks. Disgusting... This thing is already one of my most hated Pokemon, and the 5th Gen has barely started!
#120 / #614 - Beartic

What an improvement over its disgusting preevo. Now it has an ice beard. It's a pure Ice-type; sadly, Ice got screwed out of unique type combos this gen, much like Poison did as well. *sighs* And it's slow. It's a bit bulky though, and it has a very good Attack stat, so once again, it can go on your Trick Room team.
#121 / #615 - Cryogonal

A giant, evil snowflake mirror? It could have been Ice/Steel instead of pure Ice. But Ice/Steel is probably one of the worst type combinations possible, and it would render it all but useless. Physically, it's terrible, but on the Special side, it's great, and its high Speed helps it out, too. But look at its face... I wouldn't want to meet it in a dark alley. A dark, snowy alley.
#122 / #616 - Shelmit

Okay, remember Karrablast, the bug above at #094? Well, this is the bug that you need to trade it with to evolve the both of them. They won't evolve just by being traded; they need to be traded with each other. It's implied that during the trade, Karrablast steals Shelmit's armor, and uses it to evolve into Escavalier, while Shelmit is left naked. I feel sorry for the guy, it losing its armor to a bastard bug.
#123 / #617 - Accelgor

So, without its armor, Shelmit evolves into this guy. It's a ninja bug, like Ninjask, but it's pure Bug. Escavalier gains the Steel type when it evolves, so why couldn't Accelgor gain the Dark type? What a waste... Like a ninja, it's extremely agile, and unexpectedly, it's more inclined to use Special Attacks. The ninja bug vows to never be stolen from again as it seeks out Escavalier for its revenge. That's a movie I'd pay to see.
#124 / #618 - Stunfisk

A flatfish ray that's Electric/Ground. Which means that it ironically gets killed by Water attacks. Looks at its expression; it's very dull and dim. Hell, someone compared it to a yellow anus leaking diarrhea. ...Dammit, now I can't unsee that. It's slow (yes, another one), but rather bulky. It's Special Attack--the highest of its offensive stats--is above average, but it gets access to Thunderbolt, Earth Power, Surf, and Sludge Bomb, so it's not a complete loss. Just don't expect to do much damage with it. It'll probably evolve next gen, but it's not a guarantee (look at Qwilfish).
#125 / #619 - Mienfoo

Finally! A cool-looking Fighting-type. It even gets Aura Sphere! Now that's what's up.
#126 / #620 - Mienshao

A graceful fighter if I've ever seen one. It's Special Attack stat lets it make use of the aforementioned Aura Sphere, but it truly shines on the physical side of things, and it has the Speed to back it up. Maybe there's a place for it on my team?
#127 / #621 - Druddigon

Another pure Dragon. Though after reading its Pokedex entries, it should have been Rock/Dragon. Also, it's slow, so it's THE Dragon for Trick Room teams. Unlike Sharpedo, it can make good use of its Rough Skin ability, too. Design-wise, it's probably my least favorite Dragon. Overall, it's tied with Garchomp as my least favorite Dragon (I dislike Garchomp because it practically took Flygon's job as the game's Ground/Dragon-type away from it).
#128 / #622 - Golett

This is the Ground/Ghost-type that was mentioned earlier. Despite that typing, it's more of a robot than anything. Huh.
#129 / #623 - Golurk

A giant ghost robot. The strangest thing about it is that it can learn Fly; the Pokedex even mentions it flying around. I guess it is based on those giant robots seen in Japanese media. It's another slow Pokemon with sturdy defenses and high Attack. Trick Room certainly is getting some variety this gen.
#130 / #624 - Pawniard

And now we have super sentai Pokemon. It's Dark/Steel, so it gets busted by Fighting-type attacks. Otherwise, I think it looks pretty cool.
#131 / #625 - Bisharp

Power Rangers to control the giant robot above? I can only wish... And I'm not even a Power Rangers/super sentai fan. Like its preevo, it too looks pretty awesome. It's Speed is sadly average, but its Attack and Defense are pretty high. It having both Guillotine and Claw Sharpen--the latter of which increases both Attack and Accuracy--looks good, but apparently OHKO moves are not affected by Accuracy boosts, which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view. But I guess it could still benefit from Ninjask Baton Passes.
#132 / #626 - Bouffalant

A buffalo with an afro. How quirky. People were thinking that it's be Tauros' evolved form. Frankly, I don't see it. But why an afro? Maybe to drive home the fact that Unova is based on New York? Maybe... *sighs* It's another slow, bulky powerhouse. Use it with Trick Room. Imagine if the second gym leader used it, though, her already being seen as a Black mammy stereotype. These games would never live it down; it'd be worse than the Jynx incident.
#133 / #627 - Rufflet

A Native American eagle chick whose [Japanese] name (Washibon) could possibly come from "Washington". You know what that means...
#134 / #628 - Braviary

Yep. One of the coolest 5th Gen Pokemon evolves from that chick. It's a red, white, and blue eagle with a Native American headdress. Oh yeah, Unova is America, alright. However, this line is exclusive to White, and since I'm getting Black, it looks like I'm going to have to trade for it. Great attack, high HP, and above average Speed. Not bad. Of course, it gets Brave Bird, as expected from an eagle.
#135 / #629 - Vullaby

It's not done hatching. It reminds me of one of those chicks from the U.S. Acres portion of Garfield and Freinds. While White owners will be catching eagles, us Black owners will be going after vultures.
#136 / #630 - Mandibuzz

Eagles represent honor and bravery. Vultures... Well, certainly not those things. It's a scavenger that can eat rotting flesh. Also, this line is female-only, while the eagles are male-only. It's defensive and rather unimpressive to me. I'd rather have Braviary.
#137 / #631 - Heatmor

Hey look, we have an anteater Pokemon now. And it's a Fire-type. Neat. It has a nice Special Attack stat, but its Speed is a bit lackluster. Luckily, it can also attack on the physical side (which is good, since its physical moves are much more interesting), so maybe Ninjask can help out here as well; its Speed isn't bad enough that boosts can't help it.
#138 / #632 - Durant

I find it very appropriate that the ant Pokemon is Bug/Steel, making it fodder for any Fire-type, and hence any Kuitaran. Its Attack, Defense, and Speed are all very good, and it gets Truant as its Dream World ability. Normally that would be bad, but it has a move that gives the opponent its ability, so that could come in handy against heavy-hitters.
#139 / #633 - Deino

Yes! Another Dragon, and this time it's Dark/Dragon. Like the third gen, this gen has been really good for us Dragon-lovers.
#140 / #634 - Zweilous

It gains another head. Also, it reaches this evolution at level 50, and the next one at the insane level of 64, higher than anything in the series thus far. Why is that so high? In fact, a lot of the evolution levels this gen are much higher than before. I wonder why that is?
#141 / #635 - Hydreigon

And here's our psuedo-Legendary right here, and as expected it has great stats all around stats. It's Special Attack is its creme-and-butter, and it definitely has a lot of Special options. Though despite it being part Dark-type, it does not learn Dark Pulse via level-up; it gets it as an Egg Move, but the only way to get a Deino with Dark Pulse this way is to teach it to a compatable Pokemon in one of the 4th Generation games (since Dark Pulse is a TM there) and then transfer it over and breed. That's no problem for me, but others without those games are going to miss out. Also, Hydreigon sadly does not learn Dragon Dance or Nasty Plot, which is a crying shame. But at least it learns Cheer Up, which boosts both its Attack and Special Attack. I guess it could make for a nice mixed Sweeper. ...If only its Speed was higher (I guess that's where Ninjask once again comes in). Despite these shortcomings, Hydreigon is definitely going to be on my team.
#142 / #636 - Larvesta

Bug/Fire?! Wow, that's a combo I didn't expect to see this soon. I'm very glad to see Fire step up its game after being neglected since Generation 2, what with Fire being my second-favorite type (after Dragon, of course).
#143 / #637 - Volcarona

A giant fire moth. I tend to hate moths, but I made an exception for Venomoth, and so I'll make another one for Volcarona. It's another late evolution Pokemon, evolving at level 59, but as soon as it does, it gets the insane Butterfly Dance (which I described on Lilligant), which will help it to wreck everything in sight with powerful Fire- and Bug-type moves. Butterfly Dance boosts the three stats that its best in, so once it sets up, there may very well be no chance in stopping it. What a beast.
#144 / #638 - Cobalion

And now we're going into the Legendaries, and the first will be the first of the roaming trio. Quadrupeds that are somehow part Fighting-type. This one is Steel/Fighting, and it's fast with a very high Defense stat. That said, I don't like it much.
#145 / #639 - Terrakion

The second of the roaming trio, this guy is Rock/Fighting, which is a new type combo. Its stats are similar to Cobalion, except that its Attack is very high instead of its Defense. But I don't like it, either. It looks better than Cobalion, though.
#146 / #640 - Virizion

As its name and appearance implies, it's Grass/Fighting and the third of the roaming trio. I read that they're supposed to be based on the Three Musketeers. I can see it, but I still don't like any of them much. Virizion boasts a high Special Defense stat.
#147 / #641 - Tornadus

*Gasp* Can it be? They finally did what everyone thought would never happen... They have added a pure Flying-type to the game. Ever since the beginning, Flying has always been paired with another type, to the point that many people argued that a pure Flying-type would be either a cloud or a pair of wings. ...Well, Tornadus is riding a cloud, at least. This guy is exclusive to Black (Yay?), and is an offensive powerhouse. As expected, it specializes in Special Attack, but it can use Physical attacks if it wanted to. And it's fast as well.
#148 / #642 - Thundurus

Electric/Flying-type djinn exclusive to White, and- ...Hold on... Look at its sprite. Look at Tornadus. They're palette-swaps. Damn, that's lazy. The Legendaries in this game are pretty lackluster, design-wise. Also, Thundurus has the exact same stat spread as Tornadus, so like with the elemental monkeys earlier, all that differentiate themselves from each other are their types and their moves.
#149 / #643 - Reshiram

Finally... A decent-looking Legendary. Dragon/Fire was one of my most wanted type combinations since the beginning. I mean, it seems so obvious, right? Sadly, Charizard was the closest thing we had, so we had to make do with it. Then came Reshiram to answer our wishes Despite being White, it's the Cover Legendary of the Black version, which is what was the deciding factor of me picking Black as the version to get. As an Uber Pokemon, its stats are overwhelmingly great, but it truly shines with Special Attacks. ...And I wouldn't have it any other way. Its tail is like a jetpack; and sometimes it flares up red. That's a nice touch. It has two special attacks: Cross Flame and Blue Flame. I wonder which one I should have it learn...?
#150 / #644 - Zekrom

Well, my sister loves Electric-type Pokemon, so Zekrom made her happy as a Dragon/Electric-type Legendary. It's the Cover Legendary of White, and like Reshiram it has two special moves: Cross Thunder and Lightning Strike. It's more Physically-inclined, boasting an Attack stat of 150, whereas Reshiram has the same number for its Special Attack. It's tail is a generator, and it flashes blue when its charging power. These two already look better than Dialga and Palkia. I wonder which duo would win in a fight?
#151 / #645 - Landorus

Oh great. Another palette-swapped djinn. What's worse, you apparently need both Tornadus and Thundurus to unlock it, which means that you have to trade. But unlike the other two, it doesn't roam, thankfully. It's a Ground/Flying-type that thankfully doesn't have the exact same stats as its brethren. It's slower than those two, but packs more of a punch with Physical attacks. ...But you know what? Fuck all three of them. I don't like them.
#152 / #646 - Kyurem

It's Dragon/Ice, so it's obviously going to be the Cover Legendary for the third version when it comes out. But it's strange... It's Base Stat Total is 660, 20 lower than Reshiram and Zekrom's 680 as well as the other Cover Legendaries. There are also two Ice-type moves programmed in the game, one that burns and one that paralyzes. However, neither one is in its Level-up movelist. Furthermore, the game coding implies that it has alternate forms. I guess those mysteries will be revealed when "Grey" comes around, but as of right now, Kyurem is a Dragon of mysteries. Plus, it looks broken, or incomplete. I guess given those mysteries, it makes sense.
#153 / #647 - Keldio

ENOUGH WITH THE FIGHTING QUADRUPEDS, ALREADY!! Damn, what is this thing, the fourth member of the roamers? According to Serebii, it's an event Pokemon, which means that barring cheat codes, we have to wait for Nintendo to distribute the event for us. It's Water/Fighting, and boasts high Special Attack. I guess all four of them have their specialties, with Cobalion being Defense, Terrakion being Attack, Virizion being Special Defense, and this guy being Special Attack. But it looks like a jackass. I mean the animal jackass, not the idiot variety. To be frank, I don't like it, either, but I'd take it over the djinn triplets.
#154 / #648 - Meloetta

Almost done... Here we have the second of the event legendaries, and as seen above it has two forms. The green one is its Aria Form, which is Normal/Psychic and is Special-based, while the orange one is its Pirouette Form, which is Normal/Fighting and Physical-based. It's cry is also pretty beautiful, like a graceful singer. I guess that's the idea behind it. An opera or Broadway singer taken Pokemon form. It's also genderless, for some reason. C'mon, Game Freak... You and I both know that it should have been female.
#155 / #649 - Genesect

And we finally reach the end, the last of the 5th gen Pokemon, with this beast. Genesect. Yes, Genocide Insect (its former translation was "Genosect"). It's also an event Pokemon. There's a going theory that it caused the extinction periods in the Pokemon world's ancient past. Team Plasma apparently modified it into a Bug/Steel-type with a cannon on its back. It has a signature move called Techno Buster whose type can be changed by making it hold difference cassettes; in other words, it's like an inferior Arceus. Speaking of Arceus, I'm glad that Game Freak didn't try to top the god of the Pokemon world this gen. they left that alone and focused on lesser Legends (in more ways than one, in my opinion). It's a Jack-of-All-Trades; being able to attack from both sides of the offensive spectrum, and with a wide movepool along with Techno Buster, it's very unpredictable. It's only weakness is Fire; never before has the phrase "KILL IT WITH FIRE!!" been more appropriate.
Phew! And that's it. That was an ordeal, but I'm glad to finally be done. My opinions and view may change when I finally play the game (which will be when it's released here in North America), but I won't update this post with them; the only thing I may change here are the names once we learn of the English names. Till then, take care.
