A Mosque of Ignorance

It's been a while since I made an entry for a real-life issue. I'm going to take a short break from the Nuzlocke entries to write about a current event that's been making me rage. I'm going to dip my foot into the political firestorm of this so-called "Ground Zero mosque".

Anyway, I can't believe that there's such an outcry over this "Ground Zero mosque". Basically far-right conservatives and "patriotic" Americans being stupid once again.

It's not even a mosque; it just has a prayer room inside. It's actually more like a YMCA. Not only that, but it's two blocks away from Ground Zero, in a neighborhood already filled with other stores, religious institutions (even another mosque!), and I've read even a strip club. The neighborhood also supposedly has a historically high Muslim population. But, of course, news outlets like FauxNews refuse to highlight these facts.

Then, once Obama stated his support of their right as American citizens to build it (though not whether or not it was wise), that sent the idiot Americans reeling. So much so that now there are more people convinced that Obama is a secret Muslim, which is just stupid. Obama is just trying to understand Muslims better, something that Bush seemingly refused to do.

These people are trying to paint all Muslims with a broad brush of terrorists; saying that the "mosque" is a symbol of conquest, and their victory on 9/11. Nevermind that the guys building it had nothing to do with terrorists, let alone 9/11, and are trying to spread peace and understanding, something that this country lacks when it comes to Islam. Nevermind that nowhere near all Muslims support the terrorists. Nevermind that 9/11 had victims of all backgrounds, including Muslims. But no... We have pastors--who are supposed to be teaching about loving your enemies--hosting Koran-burnings. We have hysterical idiots saying that the building of this "mosque" will lead to more attacks. Yeah... From you idiots who are going to "protest" it.

People say that it would be better if they took the "mosque" further away from Ground Zero, but how far is too far. From my understanding, people protest the building of mosques ANYWHERE in the country. Are people so afraid of Muslims that they will deny them their basic American right to worship wherever they damn well please?

I don't know, but ever since Obama came into office, these ignorant idiots have just been growing in numbers (including the Tea Party movement and these so-called "Birthers"). Maybe they're just louder than the more level-headed conservatives (and I thank them for seeing how stupid their fanatic counterparts are acting), and lord knows that we had idiots during the Bush years (even if Bush wasn't exactly the best President in recent years). However, this is just too much. The ignorance is just sweeping across the country like a plague, and it needs to be stopped.

you are right. I can't believe they would want to paint them as terrorists and deny their rights
