Time for a few more new ideas that could benefit the Pokemon series upon their inclusion in Black/White. Of course, these suggestions could be reaching for the stars.
1. Reversible "Rare Candy" - We all know how Rare Candy increases your Pokemon's level. Well, how about an item that LOWERS your Pokemon's level? It sounds useless, but like the EV-lowering berries, they could have their own uses.
For example, once a Pokemon reaches level 100, their EVs cannot be altered in any way. So if you made a mistake in training your Pokemon, that's it. This item could remedy that by allowing you another chance to fix your Pokemon's stats. Another use could be to evolve Pokemon that may gain a new level-based evolution in Black/White; this way, you wouldn't have to get another Pokemon in order to get that new Pokemon; you could just evolve the one you poured your heart and soul (get it?) into raising.
As for what the item IS... Perhaps a vegetable of sorts, or maybe a bitter piece of candy (though maybe they could overlook the other bitter items lowering your Pokemon's fondness of you...).
2. Weather Patterns - Ruby and Sapphire introduced weather conditions on the field, and Diamond and Pearl continued the trend. However, those conditions only affected the same routes, while the rest of the region was clear and pristine. That doesn't make any sense.
How about this: Have the weather change in every outside area in the region? One area could be sunny one day, VERY sunny the next, then rainy/stormy, then cloudy, and then sunny again. The game could also give out weather forecasts for the coming days on certain routes and cities, and could even give you a gadget application (whatever this generation's gadget will be) that lets you see what the weather's currently like across the region.
Of course, these weather changes could be delayed until the player makes it to a certain point; it wouldn't be fun if the player chose the Fire starter, and then have the beginning routes drenched with rain (and especially if there are Water-types around).
3. Sewer Areas - Hiun City looks to be the largest and most detailed city in the series thus far. Screenshots looks like they are certainly building up. How about some underground areas, where such Pokemon as Rattata and Grimer lurk? Those two Pokemon would be perfect for a sewer area. Of course, what would a preteen (because the main characters are older this time around) be doing in the sewers in the first place? Perhaps they could be a story plotpoint, where you need to sneak into an area taken over by the enemy team or their base. This would definitely expand on Hiun City's large size.
I may have more ideas come to me again, but for now I will leave it at this.
